The PureWick^® Urine Collection System suction unit, accessory kit (canister and tubing) and the first order of catheters should be ordered together as a system initially.  Reorders for the catheters after the initial supply will need to be placed per facility policy for continuing use.

1. Which of my patients should use the PureWick^® Urine Collection System?

The PureWick^® Urine Collection System is intended for use by patients who need non-invasive urine output management. The product is not meant for patients with urinary retention.

2. What’s the recommendation for cleaning the PureWick^® Urine Collection System and the accessories?

The PureWick^® Urine Collection System and accessories should be cleaned and disinfected at the time of each use, or at a minimum, daily. 

3. How much suction is coming from the PureWick^® Urine Collection System?

Approximately 120 mmHg to 140 mmHg.

4. How often do you need to replace the canister and tubing?

The canister and tubing for the PureWick^® Portable Collection System should be changed every 90 days or sooner if you see signs of degradation.

The canister (without handle) and tubing for the PureWick^® Urine Collection System should be replaced every 60 days or sooner if you see signs of degradation.
